NextEdge provides deployment and technical services for advanced telecommunications networks. The company is a 5G market leader, having built the first 5G site in the U.S. and developed more than 10,000 small cells nationwide. NextEdge performs site acquisition, design and engineering, construction, and maintenance and repair for primarily small cell telecommunications network nodes. Platform was introduced to NextEdge through a co-investor in another portfolio company. The previous majority investor in NextEdge was seeking to sell his interest and the management team had also expressed a desire to become a platform investment in order to scale the business further. Fred Lummis, one of Platform’s founders, previously worked with NextEdge’s CEO when he served on the board at American Tower (NYSE: AMT). Platform’s investment is part of a larger syndicate led by Bow River Capital, a private equity firm based in Denver, CO. Combined, the investor syndicate owns a controlling interest in the company with management owning the remaining equity.
