Platform Partners LLC (“Platform”) is pleased to announce the addition of Jeremy Newsom as Executive Vice President. Mr. Newsom will lead Platform’s initiative to invest in junior capital, including senior / preferred equity and subordinated debt with minority ownership in companies primarily located in the Southern U.S.
A seasoned investment professional with 17 years of banking and financial experience, Mr. Newsom joins Platform from Amegy Bank (“Amegy”), where he was an Executive Vice President and managed the Corporate Banking division. He joined Amegy in 2000 and held multiple roles within the commercial and real estate lending departments. Jeremy earned a BBA in Finance from Texas A&M University and an MBA from the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University. He has also received the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Platform’s Principals have worked with Mr. Newsom for many years on a variety of financings for Platform’s portfolio companies. Platform and Amegy have a long history of financing growth for a number of successful businesses.
Over the last ten years, Platform has developed a reputation as a trusted provider of permanent growth capital for small to middle market companies in this region. Historically, Platform has primarily invested through “controlling” equity transactions. Mr. Newsom will help advance the firm’s differentiated investment strategy which will now include non-control investments in minority senior / preferred equity and subordinated debt.
Fred Brazelton, CEO of Platform said, “We are thrilled to welcome Jeremy to our team. We have known Jeremy for many years and believe his integrity, character and skillset will fit right in at Platform. With Jeremy’s expertise, Platform plans to expand our investment parameters thereby enabling the firm to become a one-stop shop for regional businesses that need growth capital.”
Jeremy Newsom commented, “I’m delighted to be joining Platform at such an exciting time in its development. Platform has a great track record of backing successful management teams to help build better, stronger businesses. I look forward to leading the effort to expand our investment strategy to include more junior capital investments.”
Brad Morgan, President of Platform added, “Jeremy is a terrific addition to our team. He has the right experience and relationships to complement and broaden the capabilities of Platform as we target investing in junior capital.”
