Investment Overview

Beneplace manages voluntary employee benefits and consumer product savings programs on behalf of Fortune 1000 corporate customers. The company’s services are available to 4.5 million employees representing approximately 9 million lives in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, Europe and Asia. Beneplace knows that growing employee acquisition, retention and satisfaction are the ultimate goals of any HR team, and they’re committed to providing the solutions, services and support to exceed these goals—all while keeping things simple for the customer’s HR team and their employee population.

In 2019, Entertainment Benefits Group (“EBG”), one of the largest resellers of Disney and Broadway tickets in the world, approached us to acquire Beneplace. Beneplace was one of four companies Platform invested in during 2017. Since our investment, we positioned the company for growth, including strengthening the management team and investing significant capital to improve the company’s technology platform. We experienced meaningful revenue growth, particularly on the consumer side of the business. While we had no intention of selling the business, the combination of Beneplace and EBG created an even more compelling offering with significant added benefits for both customers and employees.

Transaction Background

Beneplace was introduced to Platform in 2016 by Focus Strategies, a boutique investment advisory firm that the Platform founders had known for many years. The management team was seeking a partner to help grow the company because the founder / primary owner was no longer involved in the day-to-day operations. Platform’s investment, along with the investment of The Galtney Group (led by Will Galtney, an insurance industry executive and Platform shareholder), allowed for a significant liquidity event for the founder, while also providing an opportunity for management to become investors and financial partners in the company.
